When a person flirts, it can be a harmless or fun activity, but at times it can be dangerous, especially if the person is married. The dangers of married people flirting should be understood as this one action can ruin a marriage and lead to infidelity without even realizing.
Married people should realize that flirting is a risk that they cannot afford. When a married person flirts, he or she ends up living in a make believe world where they do not have to work to make the relationship a success like they would have to do with their marriage. In a marriage, a person has to worry about so many things -- responsibility of the family, providing for the family, waking up and seeing the same face day in and day out, kids and many more. These responsibilities can take their toll and you could end up having frequent arguments with your spouse. So, when you flirt, you see your spouse in bad light while the other person is viewed through rosy glasses. Hence, you end up living in a fantasy world of your creation and will not make an effort to resolve issues in your marriage.
Many times, flirtations occur at the workplace as people tend to spend more time at work than they do at home. Hence, they get close to co-workers and this can lead to flirtations. However, flirting at workplace is not at all advisable, especially for a married person. The flirtation could lead to a sexual harassment case at work and this could cause the person to lose his or her job.
When a married person flirts, he or she becomes secretive or distant from their spouse. This can cause a communication gap and rift in the marriage. This especially occurs when the person is not able to speak about the flirtation with their spouse. It means that the person has crossed all boundaries even though no physical contact took place during the flirtation. Hence, the person may end up feeling guilty and this guilt will come out in the marriage and ruin the relationship he or she shares with the spouse.
Flirting is always a risk as it can lead to affairs very easily. In any marriage, the person needs affection, honesty, support, sexual gratification and recreation. When these are not met in a marriage, the person tends to seek them outside. An affair usually begins with flirtation and when the person sees an opportunity, the physical and emotional relationship begins. Hence, flirtation can risk the very foundation of marriage as it can lead to an affair.
