What Are Current Retirement Ages ?

Every country has its own laws governing the age of retirement and the Social Security benefits associated with the retirement of a person. The age of retirement normally ranges from 55 to 70 depending upon the country, their economy and their future social and economical plans. Some countries have different ages of retirement for men and women, although it is being challenged.



The normal age of retirement in different countries, like European Union, the US and the UK, along with their employment statistics of people around and over age of retirement, as of 2005 are as follows:

The normal age of retirement in the U.S. for receiving Social Security benefits or the Old Age Survivors Insurance (OASI) was set to sixty-five for full benefits, which has been increased to 67 now. The people who turned sixty-five in the year 2008 were given full benefits only at the beginning of their 66th year.
