The symptoms of perimenopause can cause a lot of discomfort to several women. While there are medicinal options available to treat the symptoms, but the health risks associated with these treatments make them highly risky. One of the perimenopause remedies is hormone replacement therapy. However, there is a risk of blood clots and cancer of the breast with this therapy. Black cohost is a plant that contains phytoestrogens. The plants has been used by Native Americans for centuries to treat gynecological problems and through various studies it has been found that the extract from the plant can treat many menopausal symptoms like depression, hot flashes, mood swings as well as anxiety. However, it is recommended that the extract be taken for a short period of time as some long term effects are discomfort of the stomach, headaches and gaining of weight.

In ancient Greece, chasteberry was used to treat many problems, including those related to perimenopause. The berry helps to enhance progesterone production in the body and can alleviate many symptoms associated with perimenopause.
