That is when you eat a very healthy meal that is balanced then you feel more energized and active. Whereas when you eat unhealthy food that is more in carbohydrates you feel sleepy and inactive. Neurotransmitters are mainly responsible for making is feel the way we do be it anger, depression, sadness or happiness and every other emotion is controlled by these neurotransmitters.
A protein diet is something that is rich in proteins and in this type of diet carbs are completely avoided. Carbs cause the body to release serotonin and it soother and relaxes the body. So, both play their individual roles. Also, some of the protein diets that we take can cause various kinds of mood swings. The complete lack of serotonin in high protein diets can cause the mood swings because we feel overworked or tired after along bout of activeness. It is nothing but the after effect of a high protein meal.
