Just like women have menopause, even men have something called andropause. It is a slow and gradual decrease of male reproductive hormones. The most important hormone is testosterone. It plays several roles in the male body. It can happen anytime during between the ages of 40 and 55 years.

Andropause in men is a very gradual process. There are several signs and symptoms of andropause. It also causes ageing in a person and it is a very integral part of ageing process also in men. However, a lot of people do not believe that there could be anything like andropause because there are no clear symptoms and changes that could identify this stage. In women, on the contrary, the indications are quite clear that it is menopause. So, men do not have any such indications actually.

Some of the known symptoms are getting cranky, suffering from depression and also lack of interest in sex. This is mainly due to the gradual decrease in testosterone. However, a man's body needs testosterone for several other things like maintaining the bone structure, keeping the physical and mental health stable. The lack of this hormone can cause several changes that are unwanted for them.

This would require small changes in the diet and also quitting bad habits like smoking or alcoholism. Diet plays a very important role during andropause stage. There are several ways using which men can enhance the production of testosterone in their body. One of the important things to do is to exercise regularly. Testosterone is produced in the testicles, but it is stimulated by other glands. Some of the dietary inclusions that they need to make are start having more of foods that have Vitamin A and Vitamin C. All these help in the production of testosterone in the body. One can also have lean meat, red meat, chicken, salmon, and fish to increase the production of testosterone. Some of the vegetables that are good for testosterone production are beans and also soy protein., high protein food are usually good for the enhancement of this particular hormone. However, smoking and alcoholism can further decrease the production of testosterone at this age.
