When a heart beats, a doctor will hear 2 sounds. The first sound is a lub sound that occurs when the mitral valve and the tricuspid valve close, and this sound occurs at the start of the systole. The second sound is dub sound that occurs when the aortic valve and the pulmonary valve close at the start of the diastole. The lub-dub sound should occur one after another without any other sound coming in between.
