Aging is a process that we associate with old age, but there can be signs of premature skin aging in people who are in their twenties and thirties. Some of the reasons for this are stress, staying out in the sun too much or being exposed to too many pollutants in the environment. All these contribute to premature aging of the skin.
Some of the signs of premature skin aging include the following:
Wrinkles: One of the most common signs of premature skin aging obviously is wrinkles. These wrinkles are caused due to increased exposure to sun. Also, smoking can contribute to this.
Age spots: These spots appear as discolored and dark spots on the skin, and are also referred to as liver spots. Most people get age spots on their faces, but they can also appear on the arms, forehead, shoulders or any other place that is exposed to sun.
Tough and leathery appearance of skin: One of the other signs of premature skin aging is the having facial skin that looks tough and leathery. This primarily occurs due to too much exposure to sun, as a result of which the collagen and elastin present in the skin tend to get damaged.
Enlarged and open pores: This is also connected to premature aging of the skin. The pores on the face tend to open and become more prominent due to accumulation of dead cells of the skin all around the pores. If you exfoliate your skin regularly, this condition can be controlled and reversed.
