It is a known fact that hands tend to show age faster than the face. The reason for this is the skin covering the hands is thinner when compared to the skin on the face. In any normal aging process, the changes in the levels of collagen are responsible for loss of elasticity in the skin. Since the skin of the hands is thinner, even the slightest change in the elasticity tends to make the skin appear wrinkled and scaly. (See Reference 1)
A person can even notice the veins bulging out from the wrinkled hands. Another factor which is responsible for wrinkled and pigmented hands is exposure to sunlight. Those who have been exposed to sun quite often during their childhood or as young adult are prone to getting dark brown spots, known as liver spots, on their hands as they age. (See Reference 1)
Aging hands can be spotted by noticeable changes in the pigment. Also, one can see changes in the texture of the hands. The skin on the hands gets dry quicker because of loss of moisture and fat. All these lead to alterations in the contour and cause the veins to become prominent.
However, aging hands can also be treated in the same manner as a person treats the face and neck. If a person takes care of their hands properly, hands can have a youthful appearance for years together. (See Reference 2) Brown spots can be alleviated by using chemical peel. This makes the tissues appear less transparent and causes the spots to disappear. Another method to do away with aging hands is laser skin resurfacing. In this process, short bursts of laser help in lightening dark brown spots. The unpleasant prominent veins can be treated with the help of sclerotherapy. This procedure involves injecting a solution into the veins. This solution causes the veins to first turn white in color and then gradually they are no longer visible. To get plump youthful looking hands, people can also opt for getting fillers injected into their hands. (See Reference 2)More Articles :
